Dhahar (SPR) – A distinguished delegation led by Puntland’s health minister Dr. Ali Abdulahi Warsame reached provincial capital of Haylaan region, Dhahar. Doctors and health administrators were among the delegation led by the health minister and their primary aim of travel was to deliver medical aid, and tour the regions medical facilities
A large crowd made up of clan leaders, women activists and students led by Haylaan’s governer, Mr. Mohamed Jeentaro assembled outside of town to receive the minister’s delegation. Dr. Ali Abdulahi thanked the people of Haylaan region and proposed a new beginning between the ministry and medical facilities of Haylaan region.

The minister and his team toured the regions medical technical school and health facilities in town, and discussed ways to increase cooperation between the ministry and facilities through an exchange of expertise to better service Haylaan region. The visiting team also observed services offered by the region’s major hospital, and proposed to rehabilitate parts of the hospital and upgrade operational sectors such as the laboratory and the department of X-Ray.
Dhahar Regional Hospital has been operational for over 40 years and caters to thousands of patience in town and remote areas of Haylaan region. The center also serves as a research facility and staffs experts of public health which drafts sanitation programs paced with the urbanization of Dhahar city.

The minister’s delegation wrapped up their trip with a ceremony followed by a press conference staged in the town’s department of health ministry. Clan leaders and local politicians who attended the ceremony charged the Garowe administration for not engaging Haylaan region and for lack of developing necessary institutions.
While clan leaders knocked policies of Puntland government, they highly praised minister of health, Dr. Ali Abdulahi Warsame, for his courageous trip and his commitment to the development of Puntland’s health sector. “The minister certainly demonstrated an exemplary courage and we welcome him whole heartedly. On behalf of clan leaders and the people of Haylaan, I would like thank the minister for visiting the provincial capital of Haylaan, stated Ahmed Said Madaxay, a clan leader of Haylaan region.

The minister’s visit comes days after regional leaders proposed to renovate key areas of the town’s main hospital and his arrival was seen as a rally for the proposed project.
